Way
Systems Review:
Ok,
it's a cool handheld. At
first, I thought these little cell phone gadgets were going
to fade away, like a pair of old disco pants. With changes
in the wireless credit card processing industry; like losing RIM
service and converting to GPRS service, many wireless terminals lost
support. As a result, many of my wireless customers were
left with a machine with no service.
So
I was a little apprehensive to start recommending way systems
for processing credit cards by cell phone.
Many of my clients had previously bought the mobile Linkpoint 9100,
assuming it would last for 5 years just like me. However, that wireless
machine stopped being supported three years later -
disappointing many people. I actually
stopped selling wireless machines for months because of the lack of
stability. To say I felt burned, would be an understatement.
But
today, things have changed. With AT&T having bought Southwestern Bell,
Apriva - which services the wireless end - is the true backend
provider for the wireless service. Therefore, the service that
makes this Way System 1581 wireless is now more stable and reliable, with a wider
coverage area. Where as before, RIM had limited coverage, GPRS
is bigger and better.
In
addition, Way Systems has manufactured more than one model of
terminal. Showing that it's dedicated to providing long term
service and equipment for mobile business owners. What this
means is, they are in it for the long haul. This gives me the
confidence to recommend this terminal and the brand. It's
affordable and reliable too.
Below
is a short description of this cellphone credit card processing
terminal. However, I've compared many terminals and this is the
lowest priced, quality wireless machine on the market. The only
thing it does not do is capture signatures directly on the
screen. So, if signature capture isn't that important, this is a
great machine for the money.
Still,
if signature capture is a necessity for your business, I have a
solution for you. Ask me about the Hypercom Blade. It's a
couple hundred dollars higher in price. Though the difference in
features and capabilities is much higher.
As
soon as I get a web page up for the Hypercom Blade I'll post a
review and specifications on it here as well. In the meantime
call me if you want more info.
